Risking Speech

Special Issue of Terrain
What is censorship? How does it stand out amongst other ways of silencing oneself and others? And what light can anthropological comparison shed on this question? Matei Candea has edited a special issue of the open access journal Terrain on the anthropology of censorship. Contributors include department members Susan Bayly (read her article on citizenship and moral silence in Vietnam here), and Paolo Heywood (read his article on Legalism and neo-fascist pilgrimage here). Read the introduction here.
